Following three years of declines in average age and two years of decreased average salaries, the more than 500 respondents to Control's annual salary survey reported their average pay increased 2.2% as their average age declined from 47.1 years to 45.6 years during the same period. The unexpected results are likely due to the retirement-driven brain drain that has resulted in employers competing more intensely for replacements. And the changes don't stop there. This year's respondents also noted more vacation time as well as less worry about job security.

Also in this issue are feature stories about safety instrumented systems and signal filters, as well as the latest calibration solutions.
